What Kinds of Luminance Meters are Common?

In recent years, increasingly stringent testing of the brightness and colorimetric light sources and the need for rapid determination of faint light has led to the application of luminance meters. But many people don't know the common types of luminance meters, so today we're going to give you some insight.

I. Portable Luminance Meters

These products are compact luminance meters. Different measurement angles can be selected for the light probe, which is versatile. Besides, the light probe can be detached from the body, making it equally suitable for installation in automatic measuring systems and use in production lines. It is portable, inexpensive, multi-functional, with three different light probes that can be selected or replaced, and automatically identifies and directly displays measurement results. It has a USB built-in design that enables PC communication, so it can be used on the production line and installed in automatic measuring systems. It can also be used with a keypad, and functions such as correction coefficients and deviation determination can be selected.

II. Chromaticity Luminance Meter

The BM-5AS can optionally switch between five measurement angles to measure everything from delicate surfaces to large areas. It has a built-in analog output port to record data and observe waveforms when connected to an oscilloscope. Its high-speed response of up to 0.05ms enables observation of the rising and falling response characteristics of blinking light sources. It can be used to evaluate the optical properties of displays and lighting and to determine the brightness and chromaticity of automotive instrument panels, stereos, operating panels, and other delicate surfaces. It is also used to measure the luminance, chromaticity, and color temperature of fluorescents, light-storing materials, and various special light sources.

III. Spectroradiometer

The kind of product has a particularly wide measuring range, from 0.0005 to 5,000,000 cd/m². With FIX mode, the continuous measurement time on the production line can be significantly reduced (by 1/2 the time compared to Topcon's existing products), and the sensitivity balance can be improved to enable easy measurement of LED chips.

It can measure the brightness, chromaticity, and color temperature characteristics of LED backlights, LED luminaires, and displays when equipped with an illuminance interface (optional), and can also be used as an optical characteristic evaluation probe on various automatic measuring machines.

IV. Responsiveness Color Luminance Meter

It is the industry's first multi-functional instrument that can measure not only response time (response speed) and flicker, which are used to evaluate the quality of display animations, but also brightness, chroma, and color temperature. It can detect low S/N (signal-to-noise ratio) flicker with a luminance difference of approximately 0.04 cd/m², crosstalk faint light from 3D displays, and measure the luminance, chromaticity, and color temperature of the display.

The above are the common types of luminance meters. You can focus on RayClouds products. We can provide you with a full range of RayClouds luminance meters. If you have any questions about the selection or technical problems, please feel free to contact us.
